About Dogs’ Day Walking Services

Do you walk for the full hour/ half an hour as specified on your website?
A. Yes, when we say we’ll walk your dog for an hour, that’s what your dog will get. I believe it’s only fair on your dog to get the amount of exercise they need. Any time taken up by travel or additional care is not taken from your dogs walk and won’t cost you any extra.

How much do you charge?
A. Prices vary as we offer a number of different services depending on what clients need, all of our prices can be found here: www.dogsdaywalking.co.uk/prices

How do I know you’ve walked my dog?
As well as returning home to a calm, contented pooch, we take photographs of all of our walks which are published on our social media with your consent. We can also provide texts on returning from walks with a summary of what we’ve done that day and a picture of your dog having a great time.

What do you do in case of emergency?
In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will call immediately to notify you. In our initial consultation we ensure that we have all family emergency contact details. If veterinary assistance is needed, we will take your dog to your named vet or, depending on the circumstances, to the nearest possible one.

Are you insured and police checked?
Yes we are fully insured through Cliverton Insurance for dog walking and pet care services including public liability, care, custody and control, key replacement and locks/ call out charges for intruder alarms. We also have a police disclosure ref. 200000003775887

My dog has not been spayed or neutered; can he/she still be walked?
Generally this is not an issue as each dog will be considered separately but, please note we do reserve the right to refuse any dog (whether spayed or neutered) This and any other worries or concerns you might have can be discussed in our initial consultation.

Do you take bitches in season?
Unfortunately we cannot walk bitches whilst in season. The safety and wellbeing of your dog and others is of absolute importance to us, which is why it is our policy never to take bitches whilst in season.

Do I need to be home when you collect/drop off my dogs?
No, many of our clients require us to walk their dogs while they are at work and are comfortable with providing a key for us to pick up and drop off their dog even if nobody is home. This way they get to return home to a happy tired pooch.

What security measures do you take?
Your key will be kept secure and away from personal information and no key can be identified to any property. In the event of your key being lost or stolen we will advise you immediately. Your personal information will never be sold or discussed with any 3rd parties in accordance with the Data Protection Act

Do you walk dogs during weekends?
Yes, please contact us to discuss any walks outside of normal working hours. You can do this at www.dogsdaywalking.co.uk/contact-us.

What do you do in bad weather, will my walk be cancelled?
We get wet! Your dog will be returned to you towelled dry and cleaned as much as possible. If you have access to a hose we can rinse them off for you too. Ultimately, catering to their needs and wellbeing is our job – come rain, wind or shine!

Will my dog be supervised at all times?
Yes, your dog will be under constant supervision and will never be left alone while in our care.

Do you walk all dogs off the lead?
Yes, all of the dogs in our group walks will be allowed off lead for their comfort which is why we require that they have good recall (return to you and I when called). We will never let your dog off its lead in unsafe areas, and your dog’s first walk with us will always be a one-to-one session where we can practise recall and having them on and off the lead in a safe, enclosed area.

Don’t worry if your dog has trouble with recall, we can arrange further one to one walks in order to work on this.

Where will you walk my dog(s)?
We always cater to your dog’s individual needs, and this is one of the things discussed on our initial consultation. Current walks include but are not limited to: Tynemouth Beach, Haydon Grange, Weetslade Country Park, Havannah Three Hills Country Park, Heaton Park, Jesmond Dene, Rising Sun Country Park, and the Town Moor.

What if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?
We carefully select which dogs will walk together, if we find an imbalance within the group we will switch accordingly and inform you of our decision. We want all of our dogs to enjoy their walk with appropriate doggie friends.

I only require occasional walks for my dog, not every week or every day, can you help?
Yes. We are happy to provide services as and when you require, assuming we have availability.  We recommend that you give as much notice as you can to avoid disappointment.

We just got a puppy, what services do you offer for dogs too young to be walked?
To make sure you give your puppy the best start in life and implement a proper schedule, puppies usually have to go out every 2-3 hours. If for example, you are out for 8 hours, we will come over twice during the day and let the puppy out, feed and cuddle the puppy. Having a dog walker for a puppy makes training so much easier; we work with your puppy to heel, sit, stay, etc. We will also be able to introduce them to other dogs, once they have received their vaccinations. Read more about our popular puppy visits here: www.dogsdaywalking.co.uk/services/puppy-day-care

Can my dog stay with you in your home?
Unfortunately we do not currently have the facilities yet to offer this service but watch this space as we look forward to offering accommodation to dogs in the future!

What does the initial consultation involve, and how long does it last?
Abi will meet you and your pets in your own home. This is a perfect opportunity for her to gather all information needed to care for your pet, this can include any specific care requirements, commands for your dog, finding out where you keep all of the bits and pieces she might need. It’s also a chance for you and your pet to get to know Abi, shy pets really benefit from this. We will discuss your requirements, and expectations, it’s also great opportunity for you to ask any questions you have. This can last anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour.

What is your cancellation policy?
We politely ask that you give us a minimum of 24 hours’ notice in case of cancellation.

Do you accept last minute bookings?
Bookings are on a first come first served basis so we do recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment, however we understand that plans sometimes change at the last minute and as such we do our upmost to accommodate last minute bookings.
